Why I Broke Up with My Jeans: A Love Letter to Elastic

It happened on a Tuesday morning.

I was standing in my closet, staring at a pair of rigid, high-waisted denim jeans that I have owned for five years. We have had some good times, those jeans and I. But as I tried to shimmy them past my hips and engaged in a wrestling match to get the top button closed, I had a sudden epiphany.

Why am I doing this to myself?

Somewhere along this menopausal journey, my body decided to redistribute its assets. Things have shifted. And honestly? I am done apologizing for it, and I am certainly done trying to squeeze it into a casing that was designed for a version of me that no longer exists.

So, I did the unthinkable. I broke up with my "hard pants."

Society tells us that zippers and buttons are the hallmark of a "put-together" woman. But I’m here to argue that true power is being able to breathe comfortably while sitting down.

This isn’t about "giving up." It’s about levelling up.

It is a love letter to elastic. To drawstrings. To fabrics that move with you instead of fighting against you.

This is exactly why I practically live in our MeNoPause! hoodies and tees these days. I didn't just design them to put a logo on something; I designed them because I wanted clothes that felt like a hug, not a cage. When the bloating hits or the temperature spikes, I want soft cotton and zero judgment.

If you are still holding onto a pair of pants that makes you feel bad about yourself every time you try to button them, this is your permission slip to let them go. Life is too short to be uncomfortable, and frankly, we have bigger things to worry about than a zipper.

Embrace the elastic, Tribe. Your waistline (and your mood) will thank you.

Keep thriving, Tribe.
